Mariella Mejia organised her first event in her parent’s backyard… while they were away.
100 guests and three bands later, Mariella knew she was destined for a career in promotions, sales and events.
In typical Gen Y fashion, Mariella’s career has spanned from being a conference coordinator across ANZ for publishing firm John Wiley & Sons, to organising large scale conferences such as The National Heart Foundation Conference, Chemical Engineers Australia and Australian Society of Microbiology. She’s been part of the tourism industry working for the Victorian Tourism Industry Council and was a major part of the inaugural Tourism & Events (TEE) Conference.
Mariella parked events while in London and worked in the online dating industry along with a DAB radio station. Despite online dating never working for her, it was here that Mariella learnt the art of online community management, website and app builds, UX and her personal favourite: using the web to sell just about anything.
Combining digital and ‘real life’ is what makes Mariella ‘tick’ so much so, she’s decided to stop cornering people at parties and instead started, Made with Moxie – a digital marketing agency with the pure purpose of helping events sell.
To date Mariella’s parents still don’t know about that party…
